SNEAK PEEK - A Chance To Win My New Kit

Hey everyone! I hope 2012 is starting off as the best year ever for you all! It's been a while since I've been online. I had two weeks holidays over Christmas and New Year's and it was a great time to rejuvenate myself a bit. Myself and 3 of my friends left New Year's Eve for a 1 week trip to Veradero, Cuba. And yes, a good time was had by all! I came home sick however, and it's taken me almost a week to get my energy back and get back to the computer to do some designing - let alone check my emails!

Here are a couple photos from my trip. Havana was amazing, such rich history and the old buildings and architecture were truly a wonder to look at.

Christmas is fast approaching - 1 week - egads! I hope you're almost ready! I've got two new releases this month - and that's it - I'm taking a few (what I believe to be) deserved weeks off! As a last minute surprise, my boss gave us all the week off between Christmas and New Years! Can you believe it? Didn't see that one coming, but boy, I'm so appreciative of it and I really can use it! What a special gift.

The ‘Roo Progressive Blog Challenge has started …

Welcome to the December Progressive Blog Challenge, hosted by Digiridoo Scraps staff members. What is a progressive blog challenge I hear you ask? Easy! You hop from blog to blog and download a few items from each. At the end of the blog hop, you make a layout using AT LEAST ONE ITEM from each download, post your layout in our Progressive Blog Challenge gallery and you’ll have a chance to win a prize!

The blog hop starts now (14th December). You can collect the parts from the 14th -21st December and your layout must be in the gallery no later than the 25th December.
First prize is of course the gorgeous kit you will have collected on the way! There are some other great prizes up for grabs including a store voucher and coupons. Prize-giving will be in the week after Christmas.

You can see that our blog hop coordinates with this month's Mega Collab Sweet Ending and, as always, you can get it for free with any $10 purchase in the store this month.

Been Away Too Long - But have A FREEBIE for you!

It's been SO LONG since I've last posted and I must apologize! So much has happened. It all started with the Vancouver Canucks playoff run. It is so time-consuming when you're a big hockey fan! A sad ending in so many ways. We lost in the game 7 final, and then the city was embarrassed world-wide with the riot afterwards. So sad that a few thugs ruined a joyful time, even though we lost, especially after just hosting the Olympics. But I was so proud of all the people who went so early the next morning of their own free volition to clean up the mess that was made. That part made me proud. Even though we lost the Stanley Cup final, it was great to see something so wonderful as those great volunteers take pride in their city and try and take away from what happened the previous evening. A lot of people were disappointed we lost, but I loved the ride they took us on - oh so close!

I also started a full time job in May and with freelancing and designing, it's left me no time for much else. If you could see my buggy eyes right now, you'd understand why!

I've been so busy with freelance work lately, I haven't had as much time for scrapbooking for the last few weeks. But I did find some in between time and I've managed a new kit. I'm getting pretty anxious for Spring to happen as I'm sure most are that live in the northern hemisphere! We've been pretty lucky here on the west coast this winter, only a couple days of snow and it's usually gone the next day.

I’ve been busy with all sorts of “Free” stuff the last few weeks for all the stores I sell at. There was an Aussie blog train, there’s a March (St. Patrick's Day) one coming at Digiridoo, at Skrap Happens we created a charity kit for the New Zealand Earthquake victims. But I finally got to work on a new kit the past weekend. I plan on getting it the stores this weekend.

My girlfriend had a few of her best buddies over for a dinner last week. She hired a friend who is a chef to prepare a meal for us. We had stuff we’d never tried before – 8 courses in all – not to mention different kinds of wines. It was a super fun night and something we all cherished. So this is what inspired my next kit - I'll let you guess from here!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and New Store Opening!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Mine was great. Did lots of visiting, had family around, got spoiled by Santa. That sounds like a pretty good holiday recipe for me! I was lucky enough to received the gift of upgrading my Creative Suite to CS5. I'm so looking forward to it and anxious to see what's new in Photoshop. I hear there's some amazing new features. I'm using CS3 right now, so I'm sure I'll have a bit of a learning curve!

Now on for some good news! There's a new store opening this Saturday, January 8th. It's called Skrap Happens. I was asked to join them as a designer a few months ago. I first met a few of the ladies who are part of the site when I was a Supreme Team member at GoDigitalScrapbooking last year. They sought me out as a few of them went from CTing to designing. There's been so much I've had to do to prepare for the store opening that I'm afraid my designing for all the other stores has been put on the sideburner. In a way, it came at a good time so I could let my CT have a break and enjoy the holidays! I've got a great challenge happening in this thread over at GoDigital Scrapbooking. It's time to perk things up a bit and I have a new challenge for you. I want you to create the funniest page you can. It can be a funny photo, a funny story, or a funny kit. We're going to do a poll and at the end of it have everyone vote for their favourite layout. The person with the most votes gets a $5.00 OFF COUPON to my store. If you use one of my kits, you also get a 50% OFF COUPON as well.

Post your layouts to this gallery. You have until Friday, Oct. 29th, to complete your layout and then we'll put up the poll for voting. A winner will be announced on Sunday, Oct. 31st - just before the kids go trick-or-treating!

I had some photos in mind and I've started this off by scrapping a layout myself! I made this from a kit by Kari Q Designs, available at Scrappity-Doo-Dah. I hope you all have fun doing this - I know you have some funny photos and some great humorous stories to tell!

Below is a photo of myself and one of my CT members - Lone! She was on her way back to Australia from her native British Columbia last week and had some time to wait for her connecting flight. I headed out to the airport in Vancouver for a visit. It was a great night and really fun to meet someone face to face that you've been kabitzing with over the internet for the past year!

It's back to school time for most of us in the northern hemisphere. That means - especially for those of you who have children attending for the very first time - that you're going to have lots of great new photos to scrap for the start of your children's new journey. I still have some old photos in a very old scrapbook I made as a child (I guess that's where I get this from, didn't quite get it out of my system) and they're very near and dear to me.
